The end of holidays :(

Today is officially the end of the summer vacation and it signals many things. Although I'm sad to see it go I must say it was a good holiday season. It's always a more relaxed period since us working folk get to sleep a little longer as school is on vacation and the roads are less congested. Less traffic is alwasy good! The world's children get a little freedom from studying and enjoy the beach and parties with their friends....teachers also get an extended 2 month vacation. But all good things must come to an end. The new school term starts soon and some students are moving onto new schools, a chance to make new friends...forge friendships that may possibly last a lifetime....learn lessons which will form a foundation for future growth and evolution. The parang and Christmas seasons are right around the corner also and of course who doesn't look forward to that for it is one of the happiest times of the year to share with family and friends and celebrate the birth of our Saviour! It's a time when there's just a little extra "something" in the air. Love it...can't wait! But lets enjoy the last remnants of August and remember it for all it's worth...for we have to wait until next year to see it again!

Our nation also celebrates it's 49th Independence and to this we pay tribute to our founding fathers for making it all possible. Our melting pot nation has brought all diverse cultures and ethnicities together and this forms the basis of our land's credo: "Together we aspire, together we achieve." Let's continue to work together so as to reap the rewards of a harmonious and successfully independent nation.

Happy Independence TnT!

The world also celebrates Eid ul Fitr...to all our Muslim brothers and sisters: Eid Mubarak!

It's a Beautiful Life!!

Warm greetings to everyone that just logged onto my blog intentionally or those that just happened to stumble upon inspirationescape.blogspot.com by accident. It's now a little past midnight in my neck of the woods and I'm pumped. Seems like I work best in these quiet after dark hours and I just love it here in my "writer's paradise" tuned into my favourite radio station with a refreshing beverage. Today was a bit busy...spent the day doing errands, also bought a new printer and installed it myself! despite my cd rom drive not working...used some quick thinking and loaded the installation cd onto my laptop (whose drive is working!) and saved the setup onto a flash drive....slapped it into my desktop and voila! It worked! Pretty proud of myself:) and I didn't have to call anyone to get advice (*gives self a pat on the back*).

Anywho...this week was a bit busy at work trying to cram everything in there and I must admit sometimes it's easy to "lose" yourself and your "drive" when this happens. I thought I lost my motivation for blogging since I didn't post anything significant to my blog in a few weeks but then I had a lightbulb moment and during my busy work day I declared to a co-worker that I'm going to start a movie blog since I've been watching a lot of movies lately and really enjoy explaining the plot to persons and reliving the storyline esp if it's a good movie. Did my research and a few hours later in the wee hours of the morning I had my very own movie blog! Check it out here: http://luvmesomemovies.tumblr.com/. I also joined some online movie forums tonight and posted a few reviews...when it's published you'd surely be the first to know!

I've also realized that I am pretty techie if I do say so myself....I just love the internet and new media! I'm using a new blog platform, although I'm really in love with google...I tried something new and I incorporated google analytics into it so as to track site traffic etc....and I must say I was impressed by my efforts. I did it all myself! And so that's how lyn "got her groove back"...I'm blogging now more than ever...I have a renewed interest in writing and I'm super busy now that I'm managing two blogs...well 2 1/2 (long story...don't ask) and keeping up with all my other writing (for example check out http://www.the-experts.co.uk/user/26533-carolyn-correia.html) and magazines etc in the wider region and also my book which is a collection of my articles which is in the process of being edited as I speak. My cover is also coming along nicely -- I can't wait to see it! I also had professional photos taken for the back cover and I'm super excited to share my thoughts with the world.

Although I do consider this fun and can keep at it for 20 hours straight no lie! I do find time for a little break to unwind. Today I took my mom shopping and we stopped for my favourite Coldstone creamery ice-cream - YUM! (unfortunately ice-cream = more gym time :s). Last week I had the best time at the beach with friends and took THE most breathtaking picturesque photos which I will share with you over the course of the next few weeks. A few weeks ago...I enjoyed a farewell afterwork lime, met up with some  familiar and brand new folks and had some real laughs...and of course the gym is the place to work off your tension during the week although an hour on the treadmill is not fun...I do enjoy weights and quite grateful for the results. Soooo the moral of this story is that it's the little things that all make us appreciate that this is INDEED A BEAUTIFUL LIFE!! So enjoy it why don't ya! This September I'm doing something that I've postponed and procrastinated about for such a long time since it's within easy reach to my office....I'm signing up for a refresher Spanish class! Just twice a week...by December I should be finished with the beginner's course and should be semi-bi-lingual :-) That should be something to look forward to!

So when the routine of life gets you down...look around for the simple pleasures that can add to your enjoyment and make it all worthwhile to be alive if only you let it...and you just might find a pleasant surprise! Many blessings await if only you believe. ©

Movie Magic

Recently I’ve been watching a lot of movies that tug at your heart strings…call me a hopeless romantic but hey everybody has their indulgence. I’ve realized that I really enjoy critiquing movies and so I am thinking of starting a brand new blog of movie reviews! With the present situation that exists I may as well utilize my time indoors wisely. All of these movies were special in their own rite; there was an intense plot, tension and drama that kept you on the edge of your seat at all times. The ending was classic and it made you feel as though you were in the movie as you fell in love with the characters and their magnetic charm.

Stay glued…more to come soon….

What are some of your favs?? do share!

Turning lemons into lemonade

So after weeks of anticipation, the wait is finally over. The much needed closure to a situation was revealed today with a simple email message. Needless to say, not all the time you can get what you want. The moral of the story actually begins my blog post this time. Perhaps, this particular opportunity that I was hoping for was not in fact for me and once again the search continues for something that feels right to the core. Perhaps I need to fulfull my purpose at my present situation which I am yet to find out. Do I beat myself up over it? Maybe not this time but simply trust that something will work out soon enough. Things are quite comfortable in my life at the moment so I will just make the most of what I have until better can be done. I know I'm talking in parables for those that don't know me personally but that's just my way of venting privately in a public domain! How strange I know but hopefully in some corner of the world someone experiencing a similiar plight will be able to read between the lines and find solace in my ramblings.

When things don't work out, instead of throwing your hands in the air and asking why...why not count your blessings that God is saving you from something far worse than you think your present circumstance presents or perhaps you are just not ready for what he has in store. Most times the reason  will be revealed to you when you least expect, but until then give thanks for what you have! As the old adage goes: "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade!" ©

Peace.

Thanks for dropping by. How was your day? Did you find closure to some of your pressing concerns? Please leave your comments.

Are you a cynic?

Some things in life are better off unspoken. Like two colleagues or family members who don't speak to each other unless it's absolutely necessary. At times you wonder about the interactions you have on a daily basis and whether or not they are genuine. Things may happen for you to realize at times who you should hold close and the ones you keep at arms length. I love to quote these old colloquial expressions and indeed the old people warned that "not all grin teeth is a smile." I've come to realize this more and more as time progresses. Sometimes it's perplexing trying to figure people out and wondering who are really "for you" and have your best interests at heart. Sometimes you may learn this the hard way, perhaps even years later. There's a real thin line between friends and enemies.

My friends sometimes call me a cynic but we do in fact live in a cynical world. Trust is a funny thing...you have to earn it and learn to trust yourself above all. I've learnt with time however to let my guard down long enough for pleasant surprises to occur. Other times you just have to trust your instincts, go with the flow and live in the moment. Otherwise life would be no fun, if you're constantly on the look out for someone to falter. Situations may present themselves in your life but you determine how you handle it and whether you allow it to control you. With that said, there comes a time when we must put the past away and learn to discern the people and situations around us without masking our emotions.

"Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none."

William Shakespeare
