Accept the challenge

At times we wonder if there is something more to life than the eight to four or nine to five. Have we found our true calling or are we still on our journey? Maybe sometimes we think that we have found it, but something may happen for us to doubt ourselves. How many of us truly can say we love what we do? How many of us know our true gifts and talents? This list maybe long or maybe we can’t seem to think of any at the moment but I’m sure some of our closest and dearest family and friends can tell us in one breath what is unique and special about us. This is something which we may overlook ourselves. Whether we can cook the best peleau or sew the best drapery to the envy of many of our houseguests. We are special creatures beyond imagination. We may be sitting on a goal mine and not know it. If we hone that skill or talent we may not have to work another day in our lives, as our job may not seem much like work at all...Today’s world calls for guts, for risk and creativity, passion and love. Many people may feel like they are just going through the motions waiting for that dream job or business opportunity to just fall into their laps. But sometimes we have to reach out and find it: make it happen...(c)

Nothing Lasts Forever

Nothing lasts forever…like children that grow up before the eyes of their parents; that ‘sweep me off my feet’ feeling of young love…the culmination of emotions at the yuletide season especially Christmas morning. These are all things that we wish could last forever but inevitably all good things must come to an end. Sometimes we wonder why did life have to change, these moments often pass by so quickly that maybe at the time we are not fully cognizant and appreciative of what is happening in our lives...Too many times we forget to savour the moments, we rush from one moment to the next without a second thought about what is happening in the present and before you know it that moment is gone. And the proverbial question remains: do we have control over our destiny? Many of us struggle with this eternal enigma. A little bit of me, a little bit of you

Why are we a different way around different people? Is it that you put your best foot forward with some and others just seem to get the bottom of the barrel? Is it that you regard some people in higher esteem than others, or that you just have different sides of your personality? Founder of analytical psychology, Carl Jung proposed that there are different types of personalities: extroverted and introverted and he suggests there are different ways of dealing with the world around us – inner and outer. Some of us are maybe afraid of unleashing all of our personality…the good, the bad and the ugly with people we are not that close to, in the fear of them judging us or maybe creating a false impression...(c)

Ever wonder what little things you can do to make life smoother? I often wonder if there is anything to break the monotony of the rat race and everyday routines. Let’s face it, we all wish that Eve did not eat that apple those eons ago so we didn’t have to face the sometimes harsh realities of our everyday existence. People often make mountains out of molehills when often times if we complain less and make the most of what we have, our journey through life will be easier... (c)

His memory will live on

This post is a little late but better late than never...

The world over was devasted over the loss of a great musical star on June 25th...Michael Jackson. Despite the controversary that surrounded him during his lifetime there's no disputing the legacy he left behind...it was a sad, sad day in history...RIP MJ

He would be remembered by many as a pop icon of all time who spoke to generations and his music will continue to traverse time. What the late great Michael Jackson (or MJ as he is commonly endeared by many) did in his lifetime with his artform, others can perhaps only strive for a brief fraction of such to dream to walk in his shadow. He paved the way for artistes of all genres, races and ages. He gave us all a gift: a gift of music, of entertainment, of humanity and generosity and lessons in abundance. Those of us that learnt the lessons have really appreciated what he was put on this earth to do. He did indeed say that he was put here for a purpose: “to entertain… and make people happy.” His music is what made him immortal and in his quest to “defeat death” as he said, he endeavoured to “bind” himself to his work (which he indeed did), and I am almost certain that his memory would live on in the consciousness of all those that had the opportunity to be a part of his history and generation of entertainment.


I for one remember where I was at almost every stage of his career, his songs and his theatrical music videos that etched out a special place in people’s memory. To witness his artistic magnificence was really magical and that feeling that he invigoured with his music will definitely inspire great emotions and sentiments in the minds and hearts of his fans for a long time to come. Although coined the King of Pop his music was unique. It was not quite like any other genre of music that ever existed. It was universal: it traversed boundaries and cultures, broke down barriers of ethnicity, geography, class, mindsets. Almost everyone could relate to his music on some level. He indeed left behind a legacy that may not be able to be so easily emulated. He was truly blessed with a gift and talent for music and inspired change for a better world and humanity. Whether this was achieved or not, is left up to us for the message is in the music to internalize and build upon the meanings imbued therein.

Michael was born to be a star and a star he was. Music will never be the same after him. With his words, rhythm and charisma he was able to reach people present and future spanning the globe. He was able to touch thousands or perhaps millions of lives with his brilliant collection of work, arousing emotions such as happiness, sadness, love, pride and more. He was truly amazing and a tough act to follow. May his soul rest in peace and may he find true and sublime happiness henceforth.

Should I go or should I stay?

When do you know when it is time to let go? Be it friendships, acquaintances or relationships some of us could do without the excess baggage at times…those people and situations that add no real value or substance to our lives.

In this life we encounter all sorts of people and it is for us to realize who are the keepers and who we should cut loose and when. Sometimes we come across people that you know from day one will be lifelong friends, others are just there to serve a purpose or for us to learn an important life lesson and then they’re gone, yet others are a test of our strength and discernment. For there are times when we meet people who we think are genuine and make us feel good to be around at the time, yet we gain nothing spiritually or emotionally by having them around, for all they do is take up space and time in our life. And no matter how hard you try to force it; they are just not meant to be there. There is no place for them in your life and most times they cause more disturbances than good...(c)

You get what you give

The world have relied on the grapevine for news and information for so long that people often forget what integrity and honesty stand for. Often times we see persons engaging in idle chatter which inevitably is to the detriment of someone else. You never know where and when the rumour started but before you know it, it is spreading like wildfire and considered the talk of the town and gossip in all quarters. Too many times things like this originate from petty, selfish reasons; jealousy and idleness. If everyone was to concentrate on giving of their all to a particular task, life would not be about what the neighbour is doing or not doing in some cases. We see it in offices, in schools, in associations, even in church…where will it end? ...(c)

Living the life

At one time or another we may ask ourselves the question: “Am I living the life?” Or “am I doing what I was put here to do? ” If it is that each of us were created for a specific purpose, then the next question should be: have we found that purpose, or are we just going through the motions? And for those of us that have found our purpose are we really living the life? Maybe it is not for man to judge but what matters is that we are comfortable in our own skin. What is also important is what we carry deep inside which will be apparent to all, as it is manifested in the blessings that we receive...(c)
